What is a fake piercing?

A fake piercing looks like the real thing, but it sits around your skin instead of through it. How it stays in place depends on the type:

• Clips: a U-shaped clip with a detail on the outside and a tiny ball on the inside. You clip it around the edge of your nostril.
• Open rings: a little ring with an opening that you clip around your nostril or the top edge of your ear.
• Spring rings: the smooth and the twisted ring have a tiny spring. Pull it open, put it in place, let go and it clicks itself shut.
• Ear cuffs: you slide these over the edge of your ear and press gently.
• Magnetic: the magnetic septum has a magnet in two halves, one for each nostril. They find each other through your septum.

Wearing and care

Take it easy. Never squeeze a clip or open ring shut hard: if it's too loose, bend it a tiny bit tighter, very carefully. Too tight? Bend it open just a little. Take your piercing out before you sleep or work out, and take a lip piercing out before you eat too. After wearing, it goes back in its white NONPIERCED box, so it's right there for next time.
