An ear cuff is the easiest way to give your ear an upgrade. No hole, no appointment, just slide it over the edge and you're done. There's a little trick to it though: if you know where to place it and how to slide it, it sits better and looks more real.
What exactly is an ear cuff?
An ear cuff is a piece of jewelry that you clip around the edge of your ear instead of through a hole. Our ear cuffs are made of two smooth rings joined together in one flowing line. That makes it look like you have two piercings side by side. They come in gold and silver: the double ear cuff in gold and the double ear cuff in silver.
Where does it look best?
There are two spots where an ear cuff really shines.
- Conch: the middle part of your ear. The two rings wrap nicely around the edge there and are easy to see from the side.
- Helix: the top edge of your ear. Two rings stacked on top of each other, nice and bold and just a bit more playful.
Not sure? Try both. It only takes a few seconds to move it.
On in four steps
- Pick your spot. Conch (the middle of your ear) or helix (the top edge).
- Find the thinnest part. Slide the cuff over the edge of your ear there. That's where it goes on most easily.
- Slide it to your spot. Let it glide gently along the edge until it sits where you want it, and press it gently into place.
- Too loose? Very carefully squeeze it a little tighter. Better a tiny bit twice than too much once.
Taking it off works exactly the other way around: slide it back to the thinnest part and take it off the edge.
Build your ear stack
One cuff on its own is already cute. But it only really becomes a look when you add more. That's called an ear stack. A few ideas:
- Cuff plus earlobe: a cuff in your conch and a smooth ring in gold of 10 or 13 mm around your earlobe. No holes in your ears? Then you still get the look of a hoop earring.
- Full helix: a cuff on your helix with an 8 mm smooth ring above or below it.
- With a detail: lots of our nose rings can be worn on your helix too. The star nose ring in gold gives your stack a playful accent.
- Two ears, two looks: one ear calm, the other full. Asymmetry works surprisingly well.
Everything for your ear is under ear cuffs and fake ear piercings.
How many cuffs can you wear at once?
There's no rule for that. One cuff is subtle, two per ear is already a clear stack, and if you're really going for max, add some rings too. Start with one and add one at a time. As soon as you think: this is it, stop. Every cuff costs the same, so you can build your stack at your own pace.
Styling tips
- Hair up. A bun, a ponytail or your hair tucked behind your ear shows off your stack the most.
- Pick a color. Keep your stack in one color for a clean look, or mix gold and silver for something with more attitude.
- Balance. A big ring at the bottom and smaller details towards the top create a nice line.
- Phone and headphones. Do you call a lot or wear headphones? Then put your cuff on the ear you use least.
How to keep it looking good
- Make sure your ear and the cuff are clean and dry before you put it on.
- Don't squeeze it too tight. It should stay in place without pinching.
- Take it off when you go to sleep or work out.
- Keep it in the white NONPIERCED box it comes in.
Tip: doesn't it feel quite right at first? Wear it at home for an hour. You'll quickly notice if it needs to be a tiny bit tighter or looser.
